I am so proud of this girl!
In a country where sports are sadly neglected, it came as a breath of fresh air when I first saw Saina play badminton. She is frequently mistaken for the tennis player Sania Mirza but this is SaINa not SaNIa...that is pretty much where the similarity ends. (for one she is waaaaaaaaayyyyy prettier!
She is has been a rising star for some years now and she consistently achieves and improves. No resting on laurels for this young lady (unlike a whole bunch of sportsmen and women) There was no hype around her and I have seen maybe one advert that features her...(also unlike the over hyped and over exposed sportspeople that I mentioned before)
Her determination and focus are exemplary and I hope she will, indeed, serve as an example to the future generation of Indian athletes.
Keep it going Saina!
You can read all about Saina Nehwal here.

The Why And Wherefore
So I figured...There is so much happening in this huge diverse country of mine and like everyone else I have opinions that I really need to express. In view of the fact that most people I know run for the hills when my opinions come out I figured this would be a good way to go. No captive audience that will go away plotting my untimely and gory demise and no worrying about ethnic or religious groups or sensitivity levels.
Another reason for this blog, is that there are a lot of people out there for whom India is a bunch of cliches and pre-concieved notions and I would like, in my own way, to change that if I can.
We have the good, the bad and the really really ugly and this space is not to glorify one or justify the other. The whole world has things that are great and those that need changing and I aim to be as objective in my opinions as possible.
There is so much to learn and people have infinite potential so maybe I, or some reader of my writings, can be better, nicer, more tolerant and generally be a better version of ourselves.
SO - Welcome to my journey. :-)
